Regarding "Curiously, php52-extensions didn’t work. Instead, I got:"

Do this:

mv /usr/local/etc/php.conf /usr/local/etc/php.conf.bak

Then it will work.

I think you have to be careful. I got a portwell machine at ESC-2009. It has 1 GB of RAM soldered to the board and an Intel GMA graphics chip. My coworkers report that the board has barely enough horsepower for basic video.
If I were looking into a video-centric build, I'd go with an NVidia ION chipset. It's got better decoding of h.264. However, I can't speak from experience; just what I've heard.

Cool. I've been looking for this exact functionality for my iPod Touch. I keep my music on a DNS-321 NAS, which I can access from the interest. This unit is cool because, besides acting as a storage device, it is basically a little Linux server and can run pretty much anything. I'm going to look at running Ampache as you mentions.

I've been using LastPass with the Chrome browser lately. It keeps the passwords in the cloud and lets you use your password database from various computers. I hope it's safe.

Those FoxConn bare-bones systems look interesting. Any idea how well they would work for streaming NetFlix? I'm thinking of something like this for my mom.

Thanks for writing this up, glad you are getting some use out of TiddlyWeb. If you want to use ANY and aren't going to use OpenID, you can remove the openid challenger, and just use local users and passwords by adding to tiddlywebconfig.py:

    'auth_system': ['cookie_form']

If you do a `pydoc tiddlyweb.config` you get a list of the core configuration settings you can change.

Editing the policies in the store is definitely the easiest way to do things, as long as you are using the default text store. Someday there will be a way to manipulate policies from the command line. People are working on straightforward web UI's for managing bags and recipes.

(You can use curl or whatever for changing policies too).

Let us know how it goes. If you run into issues, post to the tiddlyweb google group: http://groups.google.com/group/tiddlyweb
